Jake + Kayla | A Wichita Wedding in the Fall

Our day started at 5:00am. That’s right, 5:00 in the AM (her hair appt was at 6:15am). Totally worth it though! I love meeting the bride bright and early at the salon as she’s getting dolled up. You can just feel the butterflies in the air. It’s such a memorable time for a bride – full of so many emotions. For Kayla, the most prevalent emotion of the day (by far) was JOY! I’m telling ya…there isn’t an image you’ll see here that doesn’t drip with heart melting joy. It can’t be fabricated – for her it was real.

Her Grammie was with her during every step of the day. I’ve known her Grammie for a long time…and I love her.:)

I get so emotional when I have a personal story with a couple. I’ve known Jake since he was in Junior High. I met Kayla for the first time during our consult last summer. I know a bit about their love story and when Kayla told me the morning of her wedding that she was wearing her Grammie’s wedding gown…I’m not gonna lie…I cried a bit. This dress was also worn by Kayla’s mother. It’s gorgeous and I don’t think it’s seen its last bride.

I wonder if Grammie ever thought she’d be zipping up her own wedding gown at her grandbaby’s wedding…

They opted to have a semi-private moment as their first look – it was beautiful.

Kayla is gorgeous. Flat out gorgeous.

Their intimate ceremony was followed by a super yummy brunch – some of the best sausage gravy and potatoes I’ve ever had!

Kayla & Jake – Thank you so much for bringing Tyler and myself down to Wichita for your wedding. It was such a delight to see God’s blessing on your life!

Elaine - I love the photos of Jake & Kayla’s wedding. They have the feel that all wedding days should but so often miss — they’re full of love, joy, and paying attention to the things that matter rather than the things that don’t. Jake’s mom, Glenda, is my cousin.
