Anne + Caleb | Lifestyle Photography | Spring Hill KS

I’m gonna use Anne and Caleb as an example of how lifestyle photography sessions should go.

Step 1. Choose a photographer whose style you already love – not someone who you think you can “coach” into giving you your dream images.

Step 2. Be flexible. When a photographer doesn’t operate out of a studio, there are many things that can affect a session. Trust your photographer. If s/he suggests the light, weather, or environment isn’t conducive to producing the quality of images you’re dreaming about – go with the flow. I promise you, if they really care about your memories, they’re looking out for you when they suggest a re-schedule. You won’t regret it.

Step 3. Choose outfits that are you. Of course you want to look nice, but don’t get all dolled up in heels and diamond ear-rings if it’s not you. By the way… in real life, does your entire family wear khakis and white shirts all on the same day? I didn’t think so.

Step 4. Be as involved as possible in choosing your location. Choose a place that will help tell your story. I love that Anne and Caleb were open to shooting at their home. What better way of showing who they are?!

Step 5. Be yourself. Completely and totally. If that means taking jabs at each other for fun – do it. Don’t hide who you are. It’s stressful. If you’re trying to be someone you are not, it will show in your images. Hopefully, you’ve picked a photographer who will celebrate who you are. Trust them. If you’ve found someone who “gets” you…you won’t run them off.;)

That brings me to celebrating Anne and Caleb. We love this family…through and through. I can say with certainty, that the four of us (Anne, Caleb, Tyler and myself) have seen the good, the bad, and the ugly in one another. But guess what? We still love one another and there is a place in each of our hearts that couldn’t be filled by anyone else. Check out some of our dearest friends…

I love their little house. It’s definitely been a fixer-upper for them…but it oozes their personalities. It’ll be fun to watch their home grow with them.

After putting up with all my antics at the house, Caleb got to call the shots. Out on the road we went. This was so fun!

Sandy - I DO know them and they are an amazing couple … must come from very good genes. Kami your photographs whisper to us, sometimes the essence of stories, sometimes poetry, sometimes love, and possibly (depending on the subject) a comedy. What a joyful expression of Anne, Caleb and the three B’s!
